An overdue update: after wrapping up a rewarding year at AWS working with governments around the world, for the first time in almost a decade I’ve gone back to working for myself.

I’m still doing what I’ve been trying to do since 2013: help governments and their leaders get better at using technology to serve people. Now I’m doing it through my own firm, The Key Jar. (The name is a small nod to something I believe about this work: that there’s rarely one skeleton key for all your problems; you need a whole jarful, and the important part — a part I can help with — is understanding which keys open which locks.)

Currently I’m working with Ukraine’s government through the World Bank (ask me about our recent trip to Kyiv), and with a U.S. nonprofit evaluating govtech grant proposals. A few other things are still on the stove.
